Ingredients
Method
Put the sugar syrup and bitters in the bottom of a rocks glass and swirl them together.
If you are using a sugar cube, add a teaspoon of water, crush the cube with a muddler and keep working it until no grains are left.
Add the whiskey and a couple of ice cubes and stir for 15 seconds.
Add the large cube and stir for another 15 seconds, until the outside of the glass is cold to the back of your hand.
Taste it now, while you can still fix it. This drink is three ingredients and the sugar is the one that varies with the whiskey.
Hold the orange peel skin-side down over the glass and pinch it so the oil sprays across the surface.
Rub the peel round the rim and drop it in.
